Home / Work / Health Care Tele-Services
UX and UI design and project management, April to August 2022
An after-hours telephone triage service for hospice, home care and primary care, formerly known as Hospice On Call. The company had outgrown its old site, and we ran the redesign from research to launch on a tight budget.
HealthCare Tele-Services, formerly known as Hospice On Call, answers after-hours calls for hospice, home care and primary care providers. As the company grew, it took on bigger clients and more services than hospice triage. The old website did not show any of that. It ran on a slow WordPress theme, had no easy way to manage content, and did not work well on phones, so every update cost the team time and money.
We ran the project end to end: research, design, hiring the contractors, and keeping deliverables and feedback on schedule with the company's management team.
We met the stakeholders to hear what their clients need and who they compete with, then reviewed the competitors' websites for what could be done better. We sketched the people who would visit the site, and brought mood boards of layouts, colors, fonts and themes to the team before designing anything.
The budget was tight, so we chose a Webflow template whose style matched the research and reworked it into a site of their own: new colors and fonts in the style guide, and sections rebuilt with new assets made for them. We chose an illustration style because vector artwork stays sharp, loads fast and carries the brand colors well.
We hired an illustrator to draw scenes from the team's daily work with patients and families, shown in an equitable and inclusive way, and a motion graphics designer to animate the logo the company gave us. The color palette was built around that logo.
We drew the wireframes in Figma, built the site in Webflow with a Webflow developer, and set up the CMS so the team can add content and blog posts themselves.
We tested twice before launch: the wireframe with the stakeholders and their decision makers, then the finished desktop site, with the team working through real tasks such as checking a service, sending an email and calling the company. The mobile version went through the same rounds.
HealthCare Tele-Services launched a site that reflects the brand, works on every screen and shows the full range of services the company offers, at healthcareteleservices.com.
